Grievance Redressal & Copyright Policy

This policy sets out how to raise a complaint about content, your account, privacy, or a suspected copyright infringement on BuddyCinemas, and how we handle it — consistent with India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, for our India operations under Newtact Lab Private Limited.

2. What You Can Report

  • Content you believe is illegal, infringing, sexually explicit involving minors, or otherwise violates our Terms of Use;
  • Harassment, impersonation, or misuse of the Service by another user;
  • A privacy or data-protection complaint (see also our Privacy Policy);
  • Suspected copyright or trademark infringement (see §4 below);
  • Any other complaint about how the Service or its content is being operated.

Every title also has an in-app Report action for viewers to flag it directly (reasons include offensive content, illegal content, copyright/piracy, sexual/violent content, broken playback, or incorrect metadata). Repeated reports on the same title automatically escalate it for review and may result in it being automatically hidden pending a moderator decision.

3. How to File a Complaint

Email hello@buddycinemas.com with: your name and contact details, your account email (if applicable), a clear description of the issue, the specific title/URL or in-app location involved, and any supporting evidence (screenshots, links). We will:

  1. Acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours of receipt.
  2. Resolve or respond substantively within 15 days of receipt, consistent with applicable Indian intermediary-guideline timelines. Complaints involving illegal or non-consensual explicit content are prioritized and actioned faster.

4. Copyright & Trademark Infringement Notices

If you are a rights holder (or an authorized agent) and believe content on BuddyCinemas infringes your copyright or trademark, send a notice to hello@buddycinemas.com including:

  1. Identification of the copyrighted work or trademark you claim is infringed;
  2. The specific title, episode, or URL on BuddyCinemas where the material appears;
  3. Your contact information (name, address, phone, email);
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright/trademark owner, its agent, or the law;
  5. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf;
  6. Your physical or electronic signature.

We will review valid notices and, where warranted, remove or disable access to the identified content and notify the uploading content partner. If you are a content partner who believes a takedown was made in error, you may submit a counter-notice with equivalent identifying information and a good-faith statement, and we will review it consistent with our partner agreements.

5. Content Moderation & Platform Review

In addition to user reports, our team proactively reviews flagged and newly onboarded content for age-rating accuracy, territory/geo-blocking compliance, and takedown requests from rights holders or authorities, and maintains a full audit trail of report and moderation decisions.

6. Law Enforcement Requests

Requests from law enforcement or government authorities for user data or content removal are handled by our compliance team and are evaluated against applicable law before any action is taken. Send such requests to hello@buddycinemas.com with official letterhead/credentials.

7. Escalation

If you are not satisfied with the resolution of your complaint, you may request escalation by replying to your original acknowledgment email; escalated complaints are reviewed by a senior member of our compliance team.
