This Cookie Policy explains how BuddyCinemas — operated by Newtact Lab Private Limited (India) and Thaja FZE LLC (rest-of-world) — uses cookies and similar device-storage technologies (collectively, "cookies") on our website and apps, and how you can control them.
Cookies are small pieces of data stored on your browser or device. On mobile apps, we use equivalent local-storage and installation identifiers instead of browser cookies, but the same categories and controls described here apply.
Essential (strictly necessary): required for the Service to function — signed-in session tokens, the anonymous guest-device identifier that lets you browse and search before registering, CSRF/security tokens, and load-balancing/CDN routing cookies. These cannot be switched off, because core features (sign-in, playback, checkout) depend on them.
Preference / functional: remember choices you've made so you're not asked again — for example, your install-prompt dismissal, preferred playback quality, selected language/region, and active profile.
Analytics & performance: help us understand how the Service is used in aggregate — pages/screens visited, playback quality metrics (startup time, rebuffering, errors), and feature engagement — so we can find and fix problems and improve the product. These only run in a form linked to you personally where you've consented, per applicable law.
Advertising: used to deliver and measure ads (including rewarded ads that grant Bonus Tokens) and, where you've consented, to personalize ad content. Ad-completion verification itself always happens server-side, independent of any cookie.
Some cookies are set by service providers we work with — payment processors during checkout, our CDN/security provider (Cloudflare), analytics providers, and advertising networks/mediation partners. Each of these providers processes data under their own privacy terms in addition to ours.
You can control non-essential cookies through: the consent banner/settings shown on first use in regions where consent is required (for example, under India's DPDP Act or applicable EU/UK frameworks); your browser's own cookie/site-data settings, which let you block or delete cookies (note: blocking essential cookies will prevent sign-in and playback from working); and your device's ad-tracking controls (for example, "Limit Ad Tracking" / "Opt out of Ads Personalization") for mobile advertising identifiers.
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies (for example, the guest-device identifier or "remember my language") remain until they expire or you clear them, whichever comes first; expiry periods are kept as short as practical for each cookie's purpose.
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes. Material changes will be reflected in a new "Last updated" date above.
